Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup milk Can substitute with almond or oat milk for a dairy-free option.
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For Frying

  • Oil for frying (enough for deep frying)

For Dusting

  • Powdered sugar For dusting before serving.

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the milk, water, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix.
  • Heat oil in a deep fryer or a large pot until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Cooking

  • Carefully drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil.
  • Fry each batch until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Once cooked, use a slotted spoon to remove the donuts and let them drain on paper towels.
  • Before serving, generously dust them with powdered sugar.

Notes

These donuts are best enjoyed fresh! Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to two days at room temperature, refrigerate for up to three days, or freeze for up to a month.
