  • 1 loaf 1 loaf of bread dough (store-bought refrigerated or homemade; about 1–1.5 lb)
  • 1 cup 1 cup fresh strawberries, diced (ripe but firm)
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup granulated sugar (use less if berries are very sweet)
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon butter, melted (for brushing)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish large enough for the rolls.
  • Dust a work surface with flour and roll the dough into a rectangle about 12x8 inches.
  • In a bowl, stir diced strawberries with sugar and vanilla and let sit for 5–10 minutes.
  • Spread the strawberry mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border on one long edge.
  • Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log and pinch the seam to seal.
  • Slice the log into 8–12 rolls and place cut-side up in the prepared baking dish.
  • Mix the beaten egg and melted butter and brush the tops of the rolls.

Baking

  • Bake for 20–25 minutes, until the rolls are puffed and golden brown.

Serving

  • Let the rolls cool for 5–10 minutes, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For best texture, thaw frozen dough overnight in the refrigerator. These rolls are delightful warm from the oven, and pairs perfectly with whipped cream, coffee, or yogurt. Freeze baked rolls individually for up to 2 months.
