Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
  • Stir in the melted butter until combined.
  • Mix in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract until well incorporated.
  • Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture, then gently fold in the flour.
  • If using, fold in walnuts or chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  • Transfer the batter to the greased loaf pan, smoothing the top.
  • Bake for 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Let cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
