Ingredients

For the Bruschetta

  • 1 piece French baguette, sliced into ½-inch thick rounds Look for a crusty baguette for best texture.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For brushing the baguette rounds.
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese Whole milk ricotta is preferred for richness.
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped Use ripe strawberries for best flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional) Adjust sweetness based on strawberry ripeness.
  • to taste pinch Salt and black pepper For flavoring the ricotta.
  • to taste leaves Fresh basil leaves, finely sliced For garnish.
  • to drizzle Balsamic glaze Adds flavor and visual appeal.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange baguette slices in a single layer on a baking sheet and lightly brush each round with olive oil.
  • Bake the oiled slices for 6–8 minutes until they are golden at the edges and crisp through the center. Let them cool slightly.
  • In a small bowl, combine ricotta, a pinch of salt and pepper, and honey (if using). Stir until the mixture is smooth, creamy, and glossy.
  • Wash the strawberries, hull them, and chop into small, even pieces.
  • Spread a generous layer of ricotta mixture onto each toasted baguette round and spoon a small mound of strawberries on top.
  • Drizzle lightly with balsamic glaze and scatter finely sliced basil over each bite. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best flavor, serve ricotta at room temperature. Avoid pre-assembling too far in advance to keep bread crisp.
