Ingredients

For the pie

  • 1 piece 9-inch pie crust store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts toast for deeper flavor
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips good-quality for better flavor
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup light corn syrup resource for swaps available
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and position a rack in the center.
  • Fit the pie crust into a 9-inch pie pan and press the edges; trim or crimp as preferred. Set the crust aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs until smooth. Add the light corn syrup, sugar, melted butter, vanilla, and salt, whisking until glossy and combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts so they're evenly distributed.
  • Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust, ensuring the chips and nuts are even.

Baking

  • Bake for 50–55 minutes until the filling is set around the edges and slightly jiggly in the center.
  • If edges brown too quickly, tent with foil after 30–35 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and cool completely on a wire rack for at least 2 hours before slicing.

Notes

Walnuts can be swapped for pecans. Serve warm with ice cream or chilled for firmer slices. Store covered at room temperature for 24 hours or refrigerate for 3–4 days.
