For the Pastry

  • 1 package puff pastry or pie dough Use high-quality, cold puff pastry for maximum flakiness.

For the Filling

  • 1 cup cooked seasoned meats (e.g., chicken, beef, or sausage) Use leftover or well-seasoned meats.
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (e.g., bell peppers, onions, peas) Firmer veggies like bell peppers and onions are recommended.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar, mozzarella) Cheese helps bind the filling when it melts.
  • 1 whole egg (for egg wash) Beaten with a tablespoon of water.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Roll out the puff pastry or pie dough on a floured surface and cut into circles or squares.
  • Combine cooked seasoned meats, mixed vegetables, and cheese in a bowl and season.
  • Place a tablespoon of filling onto one-half of each dough piece.
  • Fold the dough over and seal the edges with a fork.
  • Brush the tops with egg wash.
  • Place on a baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Cool completely before storing. Refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven for best texture.
