  • 1 package (12 oz) pork or chicken dumplings You can substitute with vegetarian or shrimp options.
  • 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth Using low-sodium allows control over saltiness.
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated Fresh ginger enhances flavor.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Use fresh garlic for best aroma.
  • 2 cups fresh spinach or bok choy Any leafy green can substitute.
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce Adds savory depth to the broth.
  • 1 tsp sesame oil Drizzle before serving for flavor.
  • 2 green onions chopped (for garnish) Adds freshness on top.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients to have everything at hand.

Cooking

  • In a large pot over medium heat, add a splash of oil and sauté the minced garlic and grated ginger for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a gentle boil.
  • Add the dumplings, cooking until they’re tender.
  • Stir in fresh spinach or bok choy along with the soy sauce. Cook until the greens have wilted, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Drizzle in the sesame oil just before serving.
  • Ladle the soup into bowls and garnish with chopped green onions.

Notes

For a spicy kick, add red pepper flakes or sriracha. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days, or freeze for about 2 months.
