  • 1 whole Rib eye roast Choose a well-marbled cut for best flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil To rub the roast for moisture.
  • 2 tablespoons Tri-color peppercorns Freshly crushed for best flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Rosemary Fresh, finely chopped.
  • 2 tablespoons Thyme Fresh, finely chopped.
  • 2 teaspoons Kosher salt To enhance flavor.
  • 4 cloves Minced garlic Can adjust amount to taste.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven.
  • Rub the rib eye roast with olive oil.
  • Season the roast with tri-color peppercorns, rosemary, thyme, kosher salt, and minced garlic.
  • Place the roast in a roasting pan.

Cooking

  • Bake for about 1 hour and 45 minutes or until the desired doneness is reached.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness; medium-rare is typically around 135°F.

Serving

  • Let the roast rest for at least 15-20 minutes before slicing.
  • Slice the prime rib into thick pieces and serve on a large platter.
  • Serve with sides like mashed potatoes, green beans, or a fresh salad, and offer horseradish sauce or gravy.

Notes

Store leftover prime rib in the refrigerator wrapped tightly in aluminum foil or plastic wrap for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Experiment with herbs and spices to customize flavors.
