Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 package Oreo cookies, finely crushed (14.3 ounces)
  • 1 package cream cheese, softened (8 ounces) Ensure it's fully softened for smooth mixing.
  • 1 package semi-sweet chocolate chips (12 ounces) Use high-quality chocolate for better melting.
  • 2 tablespoons shortening (vegetable or coconut oil) Optional but recommended for texture and shine.
  • Optional toppings: Sprinkles, chopped nuts, or other decorations.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or by placing them in a resealable plastic bag and crushing with a rolling pin.
  • Transfer the crushed Oreos to a large bowl and mix in the softened cream cheese until fully combined.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up the mixture.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop out about a tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a smooth ball. Place on the prepared sheet and repeat until all the mixture is used.
  • Freeze the balls for at least 15 minutes to help them hold their shape.
  • Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips and shortening in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second intervals until smooth.
  • Dip each Oreo ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring an even coat. Tap off excess chocolate and place back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • While the chocolate is still wet, add your desired toppings.
  • Refrigerate the baking sheet for at least 30 minutes or until the chocolate is fully set.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze for longer storage. For a different flavor, swap cream cheese with mascarpone or use white chocolate for dipping.
