Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups old-fashioned oats Using old-fashioned oats gives the best texture.
  • 1.5 cups milk (or almond milk for a dairy-free option) Feel free to substitute with almond or oat milk.
  • 1 large apple, diced Choose a firm apple like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
  • 2 large eggs To make vegan, substitute with flax eggs.
  • 0.25 cup maple syrup or honey Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon Can be adjusted for more flavor.
  • 0.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.25 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional) Can mix up the nuts or leave them out based on preference.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a suitable baking dish.

Combine Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, maple syrup, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Stir in the oats, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt, mixing until everything is evenly blended.

Add Apples and Nuts

  • Gently fold in the diced apples and chopped walnuts or pecans, ensuring they are distributed throughout the mixture.

Bake

  • Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish, spreading it evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the center has set.

Serve

  • Let it cool for about 5 minutes before serving. It’s delicious warm, or you can refrigerate it and reheat individual portions for a quick breakfast later on.

Notes

Serve warm, topped with a drizzle of maple syrup or a dollop of yogurt. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week, or freeze individual slices for longer storage.
