  • 8 slices slices of bread any variety: white, whole grain, or sourdough
  • 4 slices slices of cheese such as cheddar or emmental
  • 4 slices slices of ham can substitute with salami or grilled veggies for a vegetarian option
  • 1 tablespoon butter for spreading on the bread
  • to taste herbs or spices optional, like oregano or paprika

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Take a slice of bread and spread a thin layer of butter on one side.
  • Place a slice of cheese and a slice of ham on the unbuttered side.
  • Top with another slice of bread, buttered side up.
  • Repeat the process for the remaining slices.
  • Place the sandwiches on a baking sheet and bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until they are golden and crispy.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Great on their own or sliced for a party platter. Pair with a fresh side salad or dipping sauce like spicy mustard or aioli. To store leftovers, cool completely and keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
