Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 lb 1 lb (450g) ground turkey
  • 2 tbsp 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups 2 cups diced potatoes Russet or Yukon gold recommended
  • 1 cup 1 cup frozen peas

Spices

  • 1 tsp 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 tsp paprika
  • to taste Salt and pepper, to taste

Garnish

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional) Adds freshness

Instructions

Sauté the Aromatics

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. As the oil shimmers, add the chopped onion. Stir occasionally until it softens and turns translucent—about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and stir until aromatic, about 1 minute.

Brown the Turkey

  • Crumble the ground turkey into the skillet, breaking it up as it cooks. It will transition from pink to golden-brown in about 7 to 10 minutes. Sprinkle in the cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper, stirring well.

Add the Potatoes

  • Stir in the diced potatoes, ensuring they are evenly distributed. Cover the skillet and cook, stirring every few minutes, until the potatoes are tender—about 15 minutes.

Toss in the Peas

  • Add the frozen peas to the skillet, gently stirring them in. Cook for another 5 minutes until the peas are warmed through.

Garnish and Serve

  • Optional: Sprinkle chopped cilantro over the top before serving. Serve warm in bowls, optionally with crusty bread or over fluffy rice.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days. Reheat in a skillet or microwave. For spiciness, add red pepper flakes or hot sauce, and for creaminess, stir in sour cream or Greek yogurt before serving.
