Grandma’s Thanksgiving Stuffing is a classic side dish made with crusty bread, sautéed vegetables, fresh herbs, and savory broth. Crispy on top and tender inside, this stuffing is a holiday must-have.

Ingredients
  

  • - 1 loaf crusty bread day-old, cubed
  • - 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • - 2 medium onions diced
  • - 3 celery stalks diced
  • - 3 garlic cloves minced
  • - 2–3 cups chicken or turkey broth
  • - 2 large eggs beaten
  • - 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • - 1 tsp dried sage
  • - 1 tsp thyme
  • - 1 tsp rosemary
  • - Salt & black pepper to taste
  •  

Optional:

  • - 1 cup cooked bacon or sausage
  • - 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • - 1/2 cup dried cranberries

Instructions
 

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • 2. Cube bread and toast in oven at 300°F (150°C) for 15–20 minutes until dry.
  • 3. In skillet, melt butter and sauté onion, celery, and garlic until soft.
  • 4. Stir in herbs, then combine mixture with bread cubes in large bowl.
  • 5. Gradually add broth and eggs until bread is moist but not soggy.
  • 6. Transfer to greased baking dish. Cover with foil, bake 30 minutes.
  • 7. Remove foil and bake 15–20 minutes more until top is golden.

Notes

Prepare up to 24 hours ahead. Add broth slowly to control texture. Add sausage or bacon for extra flavor.
