Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  • Remove the turkey from the packaging and pat it dry with paper towels.
  • Rub olive oil all over the turkey.
  • Season generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Place fresh herbs inside the cavity of the turkey.
  • Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a roasting pan.

Cooking

  • Roast the turkey in the preheated oven until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C), usually about 3 to 4 hours, depending on the size.
  • Let the turkey rest for at least 20-30 minutes before carving.

Notes

Make sure to let the turkey come to room temperature before roasting for a more even cook. Basting the turkey occasionally with its own juices will keep it moist. If the skin is browning too quickly, tent the turkey with aluminum foil. Using a meat thermometer is key to ensuring your turkey is perfectly cooked.
