Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 2 cans biscuit dough
  • 3/4 cup butter Use 1/2 cup for a lighter option.
  • 1 tablespoon milk For the glaze.

Cinnamon Sugar Mixture

  • 1/8 cup ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Divided into two portions.
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar For the glaze.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Break the biscuit dough into small pieces, rolling each into about 3 tablespoons worth of dough balls.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a deep-dish loaf pan (or a bundt pan works great too).
  • In a medium bowl, mix the ground cinnamon with granulated sugar.
  • Roll each dough ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until coated nicely.

Layering & Baking

  • Layer half the dough balls in your greased pan, then sprinkle 1/8 cup of the brown sugar over them. Reserve the other 1/8 cup for the next layer.
  • Add the remaining dough balls on top and sprinkle the other portion of brown sugar.
  • Melt the butter and pour it over the dough evenly. Add any leftover cinnamon-sugar mixture as well.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, or until golden brown. Check for doneness to avoid a gooey inside.

Glazing

  • To make the glaze, mix the powdered sugar with the milk until smooth. Drizzle it over the warm monkey bread before serving.

Notes

Monkey bread can be served on its own, or paired with fresh fruit, crispy bacon, coffee, or hot chocolate. For storage, keep leftovers in an airtight container for up to two days or freeze for a month. When reheating, thaw and warm in the oven until gooey.
