Main Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese Use full-fat brick cream cheese for the best melt.
  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20 for good flavor; can substitute with ground turkey.
  • 1 cup salsa Use medium salsa for balance; substitute with pico de gallo for freshness.
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese Shred your own for the best melt.
  • 1 packet taco seasoning Adjust depending on taste.
  • tortilla chips For serving.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Cook the ground beef until browned, then drain excess fat.
  • Stir in taco seasoning and salsa, mixing well.
  • In a slow cooker, add cream cheese and beef mixture, stirring until combined.

Cooking

  • Cook on low for 2-3 hours or until heated through.
  • Stir in shredded cheddar cheese, cover, and cook for an additional 15-30 minutes until melted and bubbly.

Serving

  • Serve warm with tortilla chips and optional garnishes like sliced green onions or jalapeƱos.

Notes

If the dip separates, stir vigorously and add a tablespoon of sour cream or milk. Use block cream cheese and allow it to sit at room temperature to blend smoothly. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
