  • 1 lb chicken sausage, sliced Can be substituted with turkey or plant-based sausage.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1.5 cups orzo pasta
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth Homemade chicken broth is preferred.
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese Can be substituted with feta.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Season at the end for best flavor.

  • In a large skillet, cook the chicken sausage slices over medium heat until browned. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and chopped onion, sautéing until fragrant and translucent.
  • Toss in the broccoli florets and sauté for 2-3 minutes until they are slightly tender.
  • Stir in the orzo pasta and pour in the chicken broth. Bring to a simmer.
  • Cover the skillet and cook for about 10-12 minutes or until the orzo is cooked to your liking.
  • Add the cooked chicken sausage back into the skillet and mix well to combine.
  • Sprinkle the dish with grated Parmesan cheese, and season to taste with salt and pepper.

Notes

For the best flavor, use homemade chicken broth. This dish can be garnished with lemon and paired with salad or crusty bread. Keeps in the refrigerator for 3 days or can be frozen for up to 3 months.
