  • 4 cups rice Chex cereal
  • 1 cup caramel bits
  • 1 cup apple chips can substitute with dried apples if needed
  • 1 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips can substitute with dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the rice Chex cereal and apple chips.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the caramel bits and white chocolate chips together. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval until the mixture is smooth.
  • Pour the melted caramel and chocolate mixture over the cereal and apple chips, gently stirring to coat.
  • Sprinkle the apple pie spice over the mixture and stir until everything is evenly distributed.
  • Place the coated cereal mixture into a large bag or container with the powdered sugar. Shake until it’s well coated.
  • Spread the puppy chow onto a baking sheet to cool before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. It can also be frozen for longer storage. Experiment with different spices and add-ins like nuts or mini marshmallows for variation.
