Preparation

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, salt, water, and corn syrup. Stir until mixed.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Do not stir once it starts boiling.
  • Allow the mixture to boil until it turns a golden brown color, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Carefully add the heavy cream and butter to the caramel, stirring until smooth. Be cautious, as it will bubble up.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let it cool for a few minutes.
  • Serve the warm caramel dip alongside apple slices, graham crackers, or pretzels.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Reheat gently with a splash of cream if necessary.
