Main Ingredients

  • 1 wheel Camembert cheese
  • 8 slices bacon Use thick-cut bacon for better texture and flavor
  • 1 sheet puff pastry Thawed and at room temperature for easy rolling
  • 1 ea egg (for egg wash) Optional; skip for a dairy-free option
  • to taste Fresh herbs Optional, for garnish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Roll out the puff pastry on a clean surface and cut it into small squares.
  • Cut the Camembert into wedges.

Assembly

  • Wrap a wedge of Camembert with a slice of bacon and then wrap the puff pastry square around the bacon and cheese.
  • Place the wrapped cheese on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  • Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the top of each wrapped cheese.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm with fresh bread, crackers, or a dipping sauce. If you have leftovers, let them cool completely, and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. To reheat, place them back in the oven at a low temperature until warmed through. You can substitute the bacon with a veggie alternative or leave it out for a vegetarian version.
