Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 0.5 cup bourbon whiskey
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.25 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • to garnish chopped green onions and sesame seeds

Instructions
 

  • Combine bourbon, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ketchup, vinegar, ginger, and red pepper flakes; stir well.
  • Place chicken in slow cooker, pour sauce over chicken, and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  • Remove chicken, whisk cornstarch water mixture into sauce, cook on high 15 minutes to thicken.
  • Return chicken to slow cooker to coat with thickened sauce.
  • Serve garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Swap bourbon with whiskey or rum. Add vegetables or serve with steamed rice.
