Main ingredients

  • 2 large apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith) Can swap with favorite apple varieties.
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • to taste Nonstick cooking spray

Preparation

  • Start by peeling (if desired) and cutting the apples into fry-like sticks. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
  • Prepare three bowls: add flour in Bowl 1, whisk egg and milk in Bowl 2, and mix panko breadcrumbs, sugar, and cinnamon in Bowl 3.
  • Dredge each apple stick in the flour, dip it into the egg mixture, and then coat it well with the breadcrumb mixture.

Cooking

  • Lightly spray the coated apple fries with nonstick spray and place them in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Work in batches if necessary.
  • Air fry the apple fries at 380°F (190°C) for 7-9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through until golden and crispy.

Serving

  • Enjoy your air-fried apple fries warm with caramel dip, yogurt, or whipped cream.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3-4 minutes.
