Description

A vibrant, homemade jalapeno hot sauce that adds a fresh kick to any dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1012 fresh jalapenos
  • 23 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Juice from 1 lime
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Optional: 1/2 small onion, a pinch of sugar, or a sprig of cilantro

Instructions

  1. Put on gloves to avoid pepper hands. Slice the jalapenos, discard the stems, and keep the seeds for heat.
  2. In a small pot, combine jalapenos, garlic, optional onion, salt, water, and vinegar. Simmer for 10-12 minutes until soft.
  3. Let the mixture cool, then transfer to a blender and blend until smooth.
  4. Stir in lime juice and adjust consistency with more water if needed.
  5. Taste and add a pinch of sugar if it’s sharp.
  6. Store in a glass bottle or mason jar in the fridge for at least 2 weeks.

Notes

Use gloves when handling jalapenos to prevent irritation. Adjust heat by modifying the number of seeds used.
