- 8 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup quick-cooking oats
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of flour, cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Toss to coat the apples well.
- Pour in the water and mix everything together.
- Transfer the apple mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In another bowl, mix together the 1 cup of flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and a pinch of salt.
- Add in the melted butter and stir until the mixture becomes crumbly.
- Sprinkle the crumbly topping evenly over the apple filling.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
