Description

A delightful dessert with baked apples and a crunchy topping, perfect for gatherings and cozy nights.


Ingredients

  • 8 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of flour, cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Toss to coat the apples well.
  3. Pour in the water and mix everything together.
  4. Transfer the apple mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  5. In another bowl, mix together the 1 cup of flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and a pinch of salt.
  6. Add in the melted butter and stir until the mixture becomes crumbly.
  7. Sprinkle the crumbly topping evenly over the apple filling.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
